ECOM sponsors its own college scholarship award each year. Residents and students in the ECOM 14-county area  are eligible to apply. For further details about the Karl J. Roden Memorial Scholarship see Mensa Scholarships on the Main Menu.

The scholarship is funded via donations to the Karl J. Roden Scholarship Fund at the Akron Community Foundation, year-round fund raising projects, and ECOM's Fall scholarship auction. It's great fun and reputed to be one of the best in the country.

We print a monthly newsletter, the Braegen (is that Gaelic for brain?) for local members, and also distribute it electronically in PDF format. The Braegen has been nominated in the past for various publication awards at the American Mensa Annual Gathering. All Mensa members with web access may read it online and access back issues. Mensa members outside the local group may also purchase a paper-mail subscription if they choose.

Our main monthly meeting, the Final Friday Fling, is held on the final Friday of the month at a location noted in the members' calendar.  We usually have a speaker.

All Mensa members and their guests are welcome, and prospective members may attend two events.

There are many other smaller gatherings throughout the month hosted by individual members throughout our wide geographical region. There are generally no speakers at these functions and activities vary widely.

Activity details are available to members in the Braegen monthly newsletter.

Basically, we cover all of northeastern Ohio with the exception of the counties along the lake. They are part of Cleveland Area Mensa and Maumee Valley Mensa. We start at the Ohio/Pennsylvania border and go west to Medina, Ashland, and Bucyrus, and south to New Philadelphia, Millersburg, and Wooster.

We have approximately 320 members in our chapter, residing mostly in a 14-county area of eastern Ohio.
